Winnie is 1 year old, she is a lovely, sweet girl who is a genuine delight to have around. Unfortunately, her start in life was a bit unsettled; she was an impulse purchase for an owner who quickly realized she was too much to handle. She was then passed to a family member with no dog experience who also struggled to cope. Through no fault of her own, Winnie is now looking for the stable, permanent home she deserves.

Personality & Behavior Winnie is a very affectionate girl who loves everyone she meets. While she can occasionally be a bit nervous in new situations, she soon settles down once she feels safe. She is a sensitive and intelligent young dog who thrives on human interaction.

One of her most endearing traits is her love for her favorite toy, “Piggy,” which she has had since she was three months old. Unlike many dogs, she has never destroyed it! She enjoys chewing and does so appropriately with her toys; destructive behavior only appears if she is bored, under-stimulated, or hasn’t had her daily walk.

Training Needs Due to a lack of consistent training in her previous homes, Winnie has a few areas that need work:

  • Leash Manners: She pulls on the lead and currently lacks impulse control.
  • Social Excitement: Out of sheer excitement, she will bark when she sees other dogs or people while on her lead. She isn’t aggressive; she just wants to get to them! Her new family will need to commit to positive reinforcement training to help her stay calm.

Home Environment

  • Noise Sensitivity: She can be sensitive to loud noises inside the home, though she is surprisingly fine with outdoor noises like fireworks.
  • Compatibility: She has no experience living with children or cats.
  • Mental Enrichment: Winnie loves games like “Find It” and needs an active lifestyle with plenty of mental stimulation.

Winnie is a wonderful dog who will flourish with structure and a clear routine. She has so much love to give and will make a truly great companion for someone ready to invest a little time into her training.
