Enya

Enya is adopted. Enya is an adorable 8-year-old entire female who, despite her initial shyness, quickly becomes a warm and affectionate companion.

Although she might seem a bit cautious around new dogs at first, Enya soon finds her confidence, enjoying playing and running around with her canine friends.

She walks really well on a lead and is an absolute pleasure.

If you think you can provide Enya with the loving forever home she deserves, please fill out an application form.

Enya’s Assessment

Enya was assessed by a qualified behaviourist on 11 December:

  • Kennel behaviour: Enya was calm whilst having her lead on and off and when exiting and going back into her kennel. She passed the other kennel dogs with no reaction at all.
  • Handling: Enya is a pro social dog who seeks out affection and handling. She was slightly nervous when touching her ears but no reaction, her tail was tucked. Enya does flinch slightly if hands are moved quickly near to her but does not overly react or show any form of aggression. Enya was walked on a slip lead and walks calmly with minimal pulling. Enya responds to her name and comes towards you for a treat when called. She seeks out affection so is rarely far away to fully test her recall. As she settled into a home environment this would need to be tested in a secure area.
  • Sociability: Enya passes dogs outside with no reaction. She appears to be neutral towards other dogs. Upon meeting me Enya was happy to take treats and be handled. She did jump up me for more treats. Not assessed with men
  • Arousal & Reactivity: Reactivity on a scale of 1-5: 1. Enya is very motivated by food, both low and high value treats. She did jump up me to get more treats but when encouraged to have 4 paws on the floor she did this in exchange for a treat. Enya shows no interest to play with tug toys or balls. Enya showed no reaction to traffic passing the paddock or moving around the yard. Not assessed in the car, with cyclists or with children
  • Possession: Enya  is motivated by treats but shows no interest in toys at all. She didn’t snatch the treats but did jump up for them. Her desire for treats means she will be able to be trained to not jump up
  • Assessors general comments: Enya is a delightful girl who thrives off affection and attention. She will nudge hands to get more affection. She will jump up but there is no malice in this and she just wants attention and treats. Enya doesn’t appear to know any commands such as sit or lie down but this could be worked on with treats and praise.  She does respond well to her name
