At 17 months old, Star is a young dog bursting with character, enthusiasm, and untapped potential. She is currently entire, as she is still too young to be safely spayed.

While Star initially settled well after a previous adoption, she later began displaying dominant behaviors toward family members and the resident dog. Because of this, she needs an experienced home that can confidently provide clear boundaries, consistent guidance, and ongoing training to help her succeed.

An Energetic and Clever Companion

Star is incredibly bright and full of life. She will thrive best with an active owner who enjoys outdoor activities and is interested in channeling her focus into rewarding mental enrichment, such as mantrailing, scent work, or similar tracking pursuits.

Her Ideal Home

To ensure Star reaches her full potential, her new home must be:

  • Child-Free: Star requires an adult-only home.
  • Only Dog: Due to the behavioral challenges seen in her previous placement, she must be the only dog in the household.
  • No Cats: She is not suitable to live with cats.

Training & Walking Manners

  • Lead Work: Star’s lead walking is still a work in progress. When out and about, she can become highly alert and will occasionally stand on her hind legs to see what is going on around her, though this behavior has already shown steady improvement.
  • Canine Manners: Star is capable of walking nicely and calmly alongside other dogs.

Summary: Star is a beautiful young dog who needs the right person. With patience, dedicated training, and structural boundaries, she can become a wonderful, loyal companion.
