Duke is an 18-month-old entire male who is looking for a patient home to help him reach his full potential.

His early life was spent mostly in a garden with very little walking or socialisation. He eventually went to live with a family member who tried her best, but because of his poor start, he proved too difficult to manage alongside her two existing dogs. Despite this, he got along well with the other dogs in the home.

Personality & Confidence Duke is a lovely dog who is currently a bit unsure and nervous. Because of his past, he will bark at strangers when they enter the house, but he soon settles down. He just needs a little time and patience to realize he is safe—once he trusts you, he really enjoys a fuss and some affection.

Successes & Training Despite his lack of early socialisation, Duke has some wonderful qualities:

  • Great with Children: He was fantastic with the children he lived with and was very tolerant of them during play.
  • Cat Friendly: He is good with cats.
  • Calm on Walks: He is not reactive to anything on walks, including other dogs.
  • Progressive Learner: His walking has improved significantly! We have managed to stop his pulling, though his new owners will need to continue this training to keep him on the right track.

Ideal Home Duke is a sensitive boy who simply needs time, patience, and continued training to build his confidence. He is a truly lovely dog who just hasn’t had the best start in life, but with the right structure, he will make a loyal and wonderful companion.
