Obi

Obi is a lovely boy who has come back into our care through no fault of his own after his adopter experienced a change in circumstances. These things can happen, which is why we always offer full rescue backup if a placement doesn’t work out.

He can be a little aloof when first meeting strangers, but he soon settles. Once he feels comfortable he is friendly, confident and happy to enjoy some fuss. His assessment described him as obedient, highly responsive to commands, exceptionally well-mannered and well socialised.

Obi has not lived with other dogs or children. We feel he should remain the only dog in the home, as this is what he is used to. Older, dog-savvy children aged 14 and above should be suitable. A home where someone is around for most of the day would suit him best, although we understand he can be left for a few hours.

On walks Obi may bark at other dogs if they bark at him first. He is a big lad and can pull on the lead, but he is manageable and responsive. We have no information about his recall, so a long line (or a secure field) would be sensible while this is tested.

Obi needs an experienced home with people who can offer him time, patience and understanding while he settles. He has been through several changes in recent months, so structure, routine and consistency will help him feel safe and secure. He has been known to chew blankets and bedding — this may be stress-related, although we cannot be certain. He is a sensitive boy, and building trust, bonds and friendship will be key to helping him thrive.
