Beautiful Bella has just arrived, she is 4 years old and spayed. She has found herself with us through absolutely no fault of her own, purely down to a change in circumstances.
What does Bella’s perfect home look like?
Bella would love someone to lavish her with cuddles, but she wouldn’t like to share those cuddles with cats. She lived with a 12 year old so living with dog savvy older children would not be a problem, we think she could live with a calm male as she is not overly playful, a full on youngster would probably not suit her.
She walks nicely on her lead and loves to run, her previous owner said her recall was not great but we have tested her and she returned eagerly each time, we have played hide and seek and she found us very quickly. We think she will bond with a new owner quickly and reward you with affection and cuddles.
Bella has now been with us for a while and has shown herself to be a lovely affectionate girl who loves to please, she gets on well with the other dogs and has shown no reactivity.

Bella’s Assessment
Kennel behaviour
Bella exited her kennel calmly and waited nicely to have her lead put on. She paid no regard to any dogs in adjacent kennels. She did greet me but was keen to leave the kennel block. She pulled a little on her lead but was not too strong.
Handling
Bella was more than happy to be handled and I was able to touch her all over. She enjoyed a fuss and was affectionate. She was responsive to food treats and complied with my cues at all times. She does pull a little but as she is so food motivated, I feel that achieving good leadwork will be
relatively easy. Her recall is excellent. I was able to call her away from distractions and she came enthusiastically every time I called her.
Sociability
Bella is clearly comfortable with strangers and was calm at all times. She enjoyed engaging with me but did like to just run around the exercise area. She did not want to play with toys, showing no interest in tug toys or balls.
Whilst on lead, she showed no reactivity to other dogs. She was tested off lead with another male dog and whilst, she was a little nervous, she was very playful. She enjoyed a few minutes of play with him but then let him know that she was a little uncomfortable through some yelping. When the other dog calmed, Bella was happy to be around him and was calm and relaxed at all times.
Arousal/Reactivity
Please give details of reactivity on a scale of 1 to 5 (where 1 = low & 5 = high)
Reactivity – 0
Bella showed no reactivity at all to anything in the environment including other animals or traffic passing by.
Possession
Bella is soft mouthed and does not snatch. She shows no interest in toys.
Comments
Bella is a nice, calm dog who should be easy to live with. She has clearly received some training and has complies with cues such as Sit, Down and
Wait. Her recall is excellent. She has very good impulse control and has very good manners.
Her behaviour with another dog was very good. She was happy to play but I suspect that she would clearly communicate to another dog when she
had had enough. There was no reactivity at all and she showed no negative behaviour at all.
